Dozens of stranded migrants in Lebanon return to Ethiopia

BEIRUT: Fourty-eight stranded migrants in Lebanon returned to their countries of origin over the last two days, the International Organization for Migration said Friday.

Ethiopian migrants boarded two flights, one on Thursday and one on Friday, bound for Addis Ababa. All transportation costs to the final destinations in Ethiopia were covered by IOM.

The devastating Aug. 4 Beirut Explosion has further exacerbated the economic crisis in the country. The national currency has depreciated by 80 percent over the last year, making basic food and household items unaffordable.
